Metal Fabrication Services We Support

Prototek offers metal fabrication services that can accommodate just about any project. We can alter the shape, size, complexity and other aspects of metal to create a one-of-a-kind, custom product using several metal fabrication processes and machines. Our metal fabrication services cater to a wide range of industries, including but not limited to aerospace, construction, automotive, HVAC, consumer products, robotics, electronics and the energy industry. The metal fabrication services we offer include the following:

  • Laser Cutting

Laser cutting involves laser diodes diffused through optical fibers. Through this process, cuts can be made into the desired material.

  • Punching

Punching is a metal fabrication procedure that produces a hole in a metal workpiece so that when a punch penetrates the punching die, a scrap slug gets retrieved from the metal workpiece.

  • Material Graining

Material graining is the method of obtaining a consistent, clean finish on various metal surfaces.

  • Drilling, Countersinking and Tapping

Drilling creates higher-quality holes that can be used in thicker materials. Thread-tapping and countersinking are frequently done after that. Thread tapping creates threads inside the drilled hole, allowing for the eventual creation of a bolted link. Countersinking a drilled hole removes the sharp edge and creates a bevel as well as a recess (deep bevel) for a blind bolt head.

  • Forming

While cutting removes material from a sheet of metal, forming reconfigures it into the required shape. Furthermore, forming includes operations like bending, which can get done by hand or using equipment like press brakes.

  • Hardware Insertion

To have hardware parts placed precisely, securely and quickly, hardware insertion is a necessary metal fabrication service. Hardware insertion uses existing holes generated by high-precision tools such as a laser cutter or a waterjet cutter, which improves fastener placement accuracy.

  • Mechanical Assembly

Our mechanical assembly covers a wide range of component assembly and integration methods, from simple mechanical assemblies of produced sheet metal parts to specialized electro-mechanical assemblies with many materials to cater to custom metal fabrication needs.

  • TIG, MIG, Spot Welding and Weld Grinding

Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) welding is a type of welding that uses a non-consumable tungsten electrode to generate the welding arc. On stainless steel parts, lean gauge mild steel and non-ferrous metals, TIG welding is commonly employed.

Conversely, MIG welding is an arc welding process in which a constant feed of solid wire electrodes gets fed at a steady rate through a welding gun and into the welding pool. MIG welding can get applied to various materials, including mild steel, stainless steel and aluminum.

Spot Welding, on the other hand, links two or more metal sheets by adding pressure and heat to the weld zone using an electric current.

  • Welded Assemblies and Frames

Our metal fabrication services integrate machined parts, formed parts and welding procedures to construct assemblies and frames using advanced production equipment and capabilities.

Assembly Services Supported

As an established metal fabricator, we support a wide array of assembly services to accommodate custom metal fabrication requirements. Here are the common assembly services we offer:

  • Manufacturing Design Assistance

Before tackling your custom metal fabrication job, we assess several factors, including the product’s purpose, requisite product strength, quantity requirements, industry standards, necessary material quality and other pertinent variables. We want to make sure your design ensures the product we produce for you will be of the highest quality possible.

  • Tooling and Fixture Fabrication

A part is only as good as the tooling and fixturing that fabricates it. That’s why we use some of the best tooling and machines around. We have substantial sheet metal model-making experience and know what tools and machines are right for which jobs.

  • Welded, Mechanical & Small Parts Assembly

We often use mechanical components (such as bolts or rivets) or welding (such as spot welding or arc welding) to assemble custom-fabricated pieces into subassemblies and chassis. We can also handle small parts assembly leveraging several different metal fabrication processes.

  • Wire Harnessing

Wire harnessing in electrical devices and equipment is crucial to delivering electric signals and electrical power through wires and cables. If your metal fabrication project required wire harnessing, we have the expertise and services to get your job done.

  • Laser Cutting – Polymers & Metals

We offer laser cutting for both polymer and metal materials. Polymers and metals are suitable for laser processing because they respond particularly well in the ultraviolet portion of the light spectrum, making them ideal for laser micromachining multi-layered materials. Laser micromachining is based on the material’s photodecomposition. This basis results in a clean, non-contact process with no heat-affected zones or material degradation.

  • Insert Installation

We can add threaded metal inserts into parts to create threads for screws and bolts. This helps us tackle more complex metal fabrication projects.
